Facebook Ads, How to Target The Right Audience.
While most marketers and small business owners know that Facebook ads are a viable business strategy. There may be additional concerns as to how to target the right audience. In fact, poor targeting is one of the premier reasons why an ad is not getting any traction.
Who Is Your Target Audience, Specifically?
Do you know how to use social media effectively? Whether you do, or do not, at the cusp of any social media platform is your target audience. Your ideal audience is going to be the customers that purchase a product or service from you.
Who are they? What is the general age range of your audience? What language do they speak? Where do they live? All of this is information that you need to know, so that you can set your specific target range and let Facebook bring in that specific audience, which would be most likely to buy your product or service.
It’s best to identify a customer profile. A customer profile identifies the interests, habits, and behaviors of your target market. This will allow you to specifically narrow in on your target audience and find your niche.
Narrowing Down the Interests for Your Audiences
Once you pin down who your target demographic is, do you know what their interests are? For instance, not everyone who likes cars will be interested in a car wash service. While Facebook does give you automated suggestions, you need to know the best practices in finding those target interests.
If you’re trying to find people who are likely to come to your car wash, you might narrow down an interest in “Cars” with an interest in big car cleaning brands like “Armor All” or another brand that shows they might be interested in protecting the look of their car.
Use Retargeting
Are you more interested in reaching the people who’ve already interacted with your business than reaching brand new people?
Facebook has created “custom audiences” that source people that have already interacted with your Facebook or Instagram page or Ads, or who’ve visited your website.
Reaching these people with ads is called “retargeting” and it’s an easy way to get a bigger bang for you buck, while taking the guess work out of finding who might be interested in your product or service.
The only catch is that there’s a finite number of people you can retarget. You’ll have to get more creative more often when retargeting, and drop more new people in your funnel.
